What Vcore? What's your ambient temp? What program are you using to get the idle temps?
Too many uknown variables. Also, idle temps don't really matter and I can tell you that those load temps don't look accurate.
I posted this in another thread but since there's a thread dedicated to exactly this, I might as well repost it here:
4.0 @ 1.175v with HT Idle

4.0 @ 1.175v with HT Load

I'll post my 4.2 @ 1.25v in a bit.

As you can see the heat goes up greatly just by raising a mere 200mhz. Definitely don't think I can run 4.2 safely during the hot days.Technically I can boot in to windose fine at 4.2ghz @ 1.75v as well but I'm just not prime95 stable until I push the voltage up to 1.25v. Both of these were done on air btw (see sig) with room temp of around 73f. Oh and Load temps on both 4.0 and 4.2 are with Prime95 "Small FFTs" for 7-8 mins (although I have run them overnight).
4.0 with HT @ 1.16v sure is nice. My temps are about 2*C lower than yours (depending on ambient, of course) but I'm running a C0 at 3.8 and 1.248v. Still impressive to see you hit 4GHz at such a low voltage. It takes me 1.344v to get there with HT turned off.

4.2 @ 1.25v with HT Idle

Wow, PC_User, you were quite right. Disabling HT does make the i7 run ~10*c cooler. Seems to be the same temp idle but it does lower load temp for sure. Technically this means I CAN run 4.2ghz this summer as long as I have HT off.

Yah, voltage is pretty low (below stock I think, 1.2v is stock for i7 920s right?) but the heat is still intense!I see by your sig you have a Thermalright TRUE. Is that about the difference between a regular and a TRUE, 2c?
