915p chipset and 64bit

I have been looking for while and I cannot figure out if the 915p chipset supports 64 bit technology, I know it does not support dual core, but again, not sure about 64 bit. If it does not would it considerably take away from the performance of the 600 series CPU's? I have never had an Intel before so I am not familiar with the Intel chipset technologies.

that is a good find, i dont think the MB i got is neo3. I wonder if it is still the same.
 
Your best bet is to check your MB manufacturers website/tech support. I think that even tho EMT64 is not listed as supported by the 915 on Intel's site there are bios updates etc.. that may allow you to take advantage of it. That being said what are you going to be using your machine for? The average user probably won't see too much a a difference in everyday performance with 64-bit and may even see a decrease in certain circumstances. If you are looking into new boards the 945 is around the same price point and supports EMT64 along with dual core.
 
All i9X5 Series chipsets support 64-bit, just only 945 and up support dual core.
 
well i dont have any choice on the MB as it has been given to me along with a 640 cpu. It is an ECS( I know, I know but I dont have a choice) My favorite games now have 64 bit versions(DOD source, and CS source) and I want to utilize that if I can.

Second question, my MB supports both ddr and ddr2. I was looking at these two choices and they are the ones in my price range, and I have had really good experiences with both. I am not sure which one so opinions would be greatly appreciated. I am thinking both will allow me to OC if I ever decide I want to. I was thinking the ddr400 would be faster stock because of the latencies( maybe perform better with games?)

For all other knowledge I am pairing this stuff up with a x800xl. This isnt meant to be a powerhouse computer, just want to play my steam games, and maybe some other stuff too. I am really excited though, because I have never owned Intel.
