9/11 LBP Level

I liken the author of the 911 level to the saying, "best to remain silent and be thought a fool, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt."
It's a huge world out there. Not all think as we think they should.

Defending peoples' right to free speech doesn't mean they're not assholes for exercising it in the way they do. People who want to silence ideas are just as ignorant as those who express stupid ideas.

How about you stay on topic (who said anything about freedom of speech). What is humorous about the above statements I had just asked about. We await your reply.

Hedon is confusing two completely different things here: whether or not the guy who made the level is a douchebag (which he is) and whether or not he has the right to do what he did (which he does).

It's the same reason why neo-nazis can do marches in Idaho every year. You can be the filthiest slimebag of the earth and still get have your voice heard. I don't support the level at all, and I think it's pretty fuckin' sick when it gets down to it. But that doesn't mean I support censoring the dude. That shit just doesn't happen here. It's freedom of speech. Supporting the man's freedom of speech does not make it so that you support his message. They are completely different things.

The basic problem here is that, while in this case it is pretty evident that the guy who made the level is in the wrong, it isn't always this clear cut. And in those cases, who decides what is tasteful or not? The government? Yeah right.

Now, when it gets down to it, though, I do disagree with what a lot of people have said so far. Nobody needs to "lighten up" over this (except maybe hedon), as it is pretty dispicible and there's no really no defendable reason to think otherwise. It's not a matter of not having any humor, it's a matter of having decency. But the guy doesn't deserve the electric chair for crying out loud.

Being a recently retired Military Police officer from the Army, I enforced military law for most of my life. I would recommend they get the worst possible punishment.

i feel sorry for this country having people like you serving it.

freedom > personal taste (or lack of)

"How is this any different than all the "Remakes" of World War 2? AKA, All the WW2 shooters"

I thought this was a good point.

Very well said sir. I couldn't agree more.

Would you feel the same way if say your dad or wife or mom or son ws killed on 9/11? I don't think so. The guy deserves an ass whipping. Period.

Yet we're free to make jokes / satire / games / films about every other event in history without repercussions. Too close to home? Too soon?

Your outrage feeds these idiots exactly what they want.

My mother was scheduled to be on a plane that day heading home from Indiana.
Scary, but I feel that jokes can be freely made if pleased. How many jokes are there about the war in IRAQ or WW2 that people use freely, while there are families of victims all around?

not sure what your point here was considering she's still alive... and I personally haven't heard any Iraq jokes.

I know it wouldn't change my feelings at all. The person who made this is certainly an idiot, but he is an idiot that has every right to express himself (even if it is offensive). The idea that someone shouldn't be allowed to say something because it offensive is a pretty scary proposition.

I personally would give this person the chair. They deserve the death sentence.

This is why Capital Punishment is a bad thing, ppl think it can and should be handed out for the littlest of things, which in the scheme of things this is.

This massive reaction by some is exactly what the author wanted and he'll be loving it. Take a deep breath and move on then shit like this won't get spread like wildfire and get the attention it doesn't deserve.

You are questioning my motives and my intelligence simultaneously, sir.

I had relatives who died in nazi gas chambers. But I wouldn't support censoring neo-nazis because it is both illegal and wrong. The government cannot censor its people. That is putting way too much faith into it for anyone with a mediocum of sanity to stomach - nevermind doling out punishment for what is considered offensive.

This is exactly the same thing. The guy who made the level is a jackass, but to punish him for that would make us worse than him. To take away peoples' right to say things that they want (even if everyone else finds it offensive, as liberty does not make exceptions) would effectively undo everything good that has ever come out of this country.
