8x 4TB Array -- RAID 5, 6, or 50?

Don't grasp? LOL! That's an understatement. Do you generally give advice to use overly expensive, overly complex solutions for simple technical problems? Is that how it's done on [H]?

If someone wants to play with RAID controllers for the sake of it, fine. Have some fun. Debating the merits of RAID 5 vs RAID 6 vs every other RAID setup under the sun is incidental when all someone really wants to do is fart around with computer gear.
