8MB or 16MB cache?

OK, I've got 2 harddrives.

One's a 160GB with an 8mb cache. The other is a 320GB with a 16mb cache.

My OS is being run off the 8mb cache one. I'm wondering, is this going to throttle my larger drive? The 8mb cache forcing the 16mb one to run down to 8mb? Or does having 2 harddrives with different caches not make a difference?
 
it will not affect the cache on the other drive

edit: If i understood your question correctly, you were wondering if having two hdds with different cache configurations would "slow down" the one with more cache. The answer is no.
 
I have an 8mb cache OS drive,and 16mb cache storage. OS is 80gb, storage is 250gb.

While the 250 is defiently faster (logically, since it's newer and has higher density data platters), it wouldn't make sense to have a 250gb shared as storage and an OS and my 80 used also as storage in addition to the 250.

I think a fast smaller drive (such as a raptor 150gb) for OS/Installs, and a large (but still fast) storage drive for all your files works best. This way your not stressing only one drive to do multiple things in the background like downloading, encoding, burning, and in the foreground loading a game levels, or programs.

I'd say leave your current setup how it is, and when you upgrade your whole computer then get a whole new setup of Hdds the way you like it, if you feel a need. Your prefectly fine, but who knows how cheap and fast the disks will be in the future. No need to spend money now however.
