8800GTX Error - Red Dots/Blue Lines

Hey guys,

I have an 8800GTX, and its started to show red dots all over the screen. Added to this, there is weird blue lines going horizontally across the screen. - this appears from the minute I turn on the PC. It's also on 800x600 resolution (on my 24 inch monitor).

I did get rid of these lines - not sure how, it was just luck - one time when I turned my pc on they just disappeared. However, if I tried to open anything, I got the dreaded 'nvlddmkm has stopped responding and has recovered' error - this would happen multiple times in 10 seconds and finally end up in a BSOD and then restart my PC.

Now I switch my PC on and the red dots/blue lines are back. I've tried many different drivers and tried a couple of fixes for the nvlddmkm error, but have no luck.

Any ideas what could be the problem? Is my graphics card unfixable?

Any help appreciated,

Simon

Sounds like it's artifacting and your card is probably done for. Should start looking into an rma.

You can try to down-clock the core for extra life. Red dots usually mean the core is shot. :p

It's time for you to take your 8800 GTX to the backyard and blow its brains out. The old girl served you well :(

RMA time (if you have a "lifetime" warranty that is) :)
