I was wondering how the performance stacks up on my old 8800GT 512MB and the new graphics on the MacBook Pro line, NVIDIA's GeForce GT 330M 256MB.

I'm not to well read on graphics technology in general, I was wondering if I bought the MBP, can I expect the same level of graphics or better under bootcamp? I understand that I will not be able to crank everything to the max due to the vid ram amount.

I only play BFBC2 and CnC4 these days. BFBC2 is currently running on med graphics at 1920x1080. CnC4 is maxed out at the same res.

How about a comparison of the 8800GT to the 320 256MB of the new mini?

I'll be probably be getting the high res version of the MBP @ 1680 res screen.

You can use this site to compare Mobile GPUs.

The GT330M is probably about half the speed of the desktop 8800GT.

The GT330M looks like it needs low settings to run BFBC2.

BFBC2
low: ~ 53 fps
med: ~26 fps
high: ~20 fps
ultra: ~10 fps

The HD5650M looks to run med/high settings though and can be found in some modest priced laptops (less than <$1000).

BFBC2
low: ~ 51 fps
med: ~42 fps
high: ~29 fps
ultra: ~15 fps

or the HD5730M

BFBC2
low: ~ 80 fps
med: ~51 fps
high: ~35 fps
ultra: ~16 fps

GT 330M

shaders 48 - unified
Core Speed * 575 MHz
Shader Speed * 1265 MHz
Memory Speed * 1066 MHz
Memory Bus Width 128 Bit

Performance should be about the same as a 9500GT desktop part

shaders 32 - unified
Core Speed 550 MHz
Shader Speed 1400 MHz
Memory Speed * 1600 MHz
Memory Bus Width 128 Bit

The 330M has more shaders, but they are clocked slower, and the card is memory starved with only 17 GB/s bandwidth.

Your 8800GT 512MB destroys the 9500GT (8800GT is in-between the 9600GT and 9800GTX+), even before you take the 256MB memory of the mobile part into account (256MB is so 2007).
