Everyone is screaming about how the 8800GT pwns, and im sure it does (im upgrading to it :D) but from all reviews ive seen so far the temps were like 65C idle! wtf?

Cant wait till tomorrow, gonna upgrade first chance I get, that is only if i make sure temps are reasonable, if not, im going to have to wait for aftermarket coolers for this card

The plastic cover that covers the card looks easily removable. You can probably stick an 80mm or 92mm on it, once removed. Should be better. I hope the HR-03+ fits on it, which seems like it should. The Chinese site also showed them having a Zalman Fatal1ty HSF on the card.

This card runs much cooler and is much more efficient than any GTS or GTX. Don't worry about it.

Did you see temps from any reviews? 65C idling is not what I would call "cool"

The core temp might not be cool, but the thermal output has decreased substantially from the previous release. If you consider the heatsink space was HALVED, and temperatures only rose around 25%... Then it's a much cooler chip.

Yeah, I'm waiting for someone to see if the HR-03+ fits, as that's the HSF I have atm.

Uses 6 and 7 series mounting holes.

I plan on getting a Accerlero S1 if it doesn't smash the core on it.

Not sure if the HR-03 will fit.

Where did you read this? I've been looking all over to figure this out.

That fits...

It uses:

ATI X1600 Series
ATI X1300 Series
ATI Radeon 9*** Series (except 9550/9600)
ATI Radeon X*** Series
ATI X1900 Series
ATI X1800 Series
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX Series
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600(FX 5700)
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 Series (except 6600 AGP Series)
NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4*** Series
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700(Ultra) Series
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5800 Series
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 Series
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 Series
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5950 Series
NVIDIA GeForce 7900 Series
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 Series (except 7800GS)
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Series

So it has those mounting holes.

It sure did - the first I'm going to do when I get my 8800GT is take the fatal1ty off my 7900GT and move it over to the 8800GT. Hopefully it'll stay under 75C load with a good overclock.

thanks, that's what i needed. damn. haha.

I am a tad concerned about the temps as well. It will be interesting to see how hot the entire card gets. If the card is only warm and the core is 86C under load and the Fan is quiet then i will leave it alone.

This card has standard mount holes, so a fairly Cheap Zalman VF900 will do the trick for example. As it happens I will probably swap the Zalman off my 7950Gt and put the stock one back on that came with it.

The S1 is bigger, better, cheaper!

Maybe the RAMsinks suck, but I hope it fits (both for card and case)

How's the noise output on the GT?

I'm a big proponent of large fans on GPU heatsinks - look at how successful/quiet the GTS and 7900GTX coolers were.

2900 loud
This I know, I'm asking about the 8800GT.

I'm just happy to see the exclusion of the noobshield. That would've just made it run even hotter. I wonder if a little AS5/MX-2 would help stock temps any.

Well according to one of the reviews I saw that tested the noise, it was the same level as the 2900, thats why he gave you that answer.

Keep in mind that this is an open bench on stock cooling.

***I gave the response of 2900 loud because one of the reviews gave the comparison of a GT to a 2900.
