I have a XFX 8800GT, running Windows XP SP3.

I've started having issues where the computer would boot fine, it shows the Windows XP loading logo, but after that I get a blank screen and a No Signal message on the monitor.

If I run safe mode, it boots fine and I can get into windows, it does not give any No Signal message.

So what I've done is, go into safe mode, uninstall the video drivers and that lets me boot into windows no problem in normal mode. I installed the latest Nvidia drivers, but my resolution seems to be very messed up.

It does not seem to be changing the resolution at all. It seems to be stuck in 800x600 or 1024x768 or something like that. My monitor is a Soyo 24", so if I try high resolutions, instead of making everything smaller and fitting it on the screen it keeps it as if its still 800x600 or something like that, but expands it so things go out of my view area.

I have to take my mouse and move it to the right, left, up, down and it will 'scroll'. Think of your browser window, how everything is not displayed at once, you have to scroll down to view the rest of the page.

I've tried older drivers, and those give the no signal error. Is there something wrong with my video card or did something get corrupted in windows.

Thanks for reading.

Does your mobo have on-board video? This sounds like a problem I've seen where Intel grfx drivers will take over another device and introduce that weird desktop scrolling thing you're describing. If your mobo has on-board video, either disable it in BIOS (preferable) or, try going into device manager and disabling that device. Then see if you still have the problem...

It does have on board video, but I cannot 'disable' it. I can only set it to output onbord/ or PCI and i have it set to PCI E.

No onboard video drivers are displayed in device manager

If I were in this spot I think I'd give an OS re-installation a shot. Sounds like something in windows is borked.

I have an 8800GT, and have this problem when hooking up my PC to my LCD 42" TV via VGA cable. If I use a DVI to HDMI adapter, I do not have this problem. Are yoou using a VGA cable? If so, maybe try swapping it out w/ a DVI cable.

I also use a 24" SOYO, but only have ever used the DVI input on it.
