8800GT Heat--Extra cooling needed

So i have the setup you can see below my post...and i have had heat issues to begin with. My CPU idling at 40C which im told is high...my 8800GT used to idle at 55C and under load (crysis, COD4) it would hit 60-70. Well now its hotter outside and its idling at 60-65C and underload today of Sims 3, it was 90C. Im wondering how close i am to dangerous heat for my Vid card?

And the main question is, what can i do to cool it down? (As in what cooling options, such as a VGA cooler such as a Accelero S1 Rev 2. http://www.arctic-cooling.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=2_&mID=105 )

Is that what i want? Please be specific on the products you might recommend.


BTW, i am using my fan ports on my Case, i have the front port sucking air in the case, the side port blowing air in (right onto the cpu) and the back blowing air out. (ThermaFlow case fans)

Also YES i am using Riva tuner so above 60C the vid card fan is at 100%.
 
My 8800gt stock cooler went bad somehow and I replaced it with a Zalman vf900. That fixed the problem. The Accelero you listed would also do the trick. Also, see the article below for more ideas:

It's a little outdated but still, any of the top rated coolers here will solve any heat problems as long as you do not go crazy on overclocking (i.e., little or no volt-mods). I believe the 8800gt is safe up to 100c but personally I prefer to keep it below 80c just to be safe. Worst case scenario I have seen my 8800gt hit the high 60s with the vf900 (hot day, best overclock, case air flow decent but not great).
 
the accelero s1 rev2 is a good heatsink.. i have one on my 8800GT in my other system overclocked to 715/1836/1020 with some cheapo 80mm low rpm fans.. sits full load at 60C.. a decent 120mm fan that actually moves some air compared to the fans i have on mine it should easily stay under 50C at full load..
 
Have you tried cleaning out the heatsink? It's possible that it is simply full of dust which would impede airflow and negatively affect cooling. Try taking the card out of your system, blowing out the heatsink with some compressed air, and testing it in your PC again. If that doesn't help, then you could go with one of the other coolers being discussed here (my personal recommendation would be for the Accelero).
 
90c is nothing mine crashed crysis at 98c :p, and the fan kicks in now lol.
 
Well i clean it fully and it idles now at around 59C now instead of 65C As for under load im not sure yet. Im curious for the people that have the Accelero is you had problems with its size/and or getting it set up how it should be? Thanks
