How good is this GPU? How does it compare to a 9600gt for example?

Marginally better, IIRC.

I'd google for a benchmark comparison review if I were you though.

That is the card I currently use, I've found it can handle pretty much every game at 1920x1200 rez max settings, including Demigod w/ a 30+ framerate. For Crysis, I ran at 1920x1200 medium settings, w/ one or two at high.

It's still a really good card, IMO.

It isn't a bad card at all. I have the 8800 GTS 512mb which is almost identical. I'd wait for the new cards that will soon be released to upgrade. I'm actually upgrading to a 4890 right now but I've found an excuse to do so. :p

I just traded a NIB BFG 8800GT (g92) for 5 Magpul PMags :) I bought it a year ago and never used it so im glad I got something for it.

That said, the new owner of the card is amazed by it and loves it.

It's a very good and fast little GPU. It still handles the majority of games with all bells and whistles up to 1600x1200.

It's faster than a 9600 GT, although most benchmarks will show that the difference isn't huge. The thing is that the 8800 GT has 112 Stream Processors and the 9600 GT has 64. For any non-shader intensive game, clock frequencies will matter the most and that's where the 9600 GT comes close to the 8800 GT. In anything else, the 8800 GT will be faster.

8800 GT/9800 GT are very solid performers. Hard to go wrong with them. One of the better midrange cards you can find. Runs Fallout3 and Sims2 with no problems. I used to have one but sold it after I got my 4890.

Yep, it's a great card. Can run FEAR 2 maxed on the system in my sig 1440x900 @ 30+ fps.

I however am bottlenecking it with the CPU, so you'll be totally fine.

8800 vs 9600 8800 will win due to the haveing 128sp g92 core 112sp g80 core vrs the 9600 64sp 8800 will rape the 9600

actually, the 8800/9800GT has 112SP, not 128. It's the 9800GTX that has 128SP. ;)

Its still a good card for non-high resolutions.
Pretty much something like 85-90% of a 8800GTX
