8800 GTX to Quadro 5600 softmod

Has anyone tried this? I'm building a workstation for a co-worker that will be using Solidworks for his design company. What limitations may I encounter If I proceed to do this? ( choice of o/s , features in software etc) He has agreed to buy my card for $350 if I can soft-mod it to a 5600

I believe you used to be able to "softmod" geforces into quadros... but remember:

Just making the computer see it as a quadro, and installing quadro drivers still doesn't make it a quadro. Don't believe me lol? google it, I promise.

Either Nvidia has done something with the hardware, or there is some weird API thing going on. Either way, I think you're out of luck. Google heavily.

My point is- everything might "look" quadro, but the performance in CAD is not going to improve at all vs. the unmodded card.

I was keeping around a Quadro FX3400 (Dell 6800GTO w/FX3400 chip flashed to a GTO) since the NV4x series was the last to be fully soft-unlockable. But now I have a HD 3870 that can be soft-modded to a FireStream 9170 (the HD 3870 will be even faster than that link). The HD 3870 cards are pretty cheap now too.
