So i was browsing the internet and all of sudden my monitor went black and i got the no signal message. I started to panic thinking my new LCD let loose. Anyway, i re-installed my OLD ati radeon (no extra psu connectors needed) video card and the computer booted up just fine.

My question: Could a powersupply cause this? I mean the connectors that you connect to the video card go bad?

Can the computer atleast show a display when you dont have the extra PSU plugs connected?

Yes, the fan still spin on the 8800GTX when the pc is powered on.
The card has been running @ stock speeds for the months i had it.

:(

I have had this happen with a 8500GT before. Never was sure what the problem was, but the video card worked fine in another computer. My guess would be that something was wrong with my PSU or Motherboard (which was defective anyways)

I had this happen with a powercolor 4850, except the fan didn't spin at all, I assumed it was a bad card and RMA'd it. Recently it happened when I was screwing with ram timings in the bios, resetting the CMOS fixed it, give that a try.
