I have an EVGA 8800 GT KO, have multiple 120 mm exhaust fans, and a 120 mm intake fan from the front blowing directly onto the card. Also I have a Antec P182 case which has enough vents in the back to let out hot air from the video card.
Many people have been commenting on the 8800 GT's cooling, or more specifically, the lack of it.
I think that it is NVIDIA's problem with the drivers. No matter how high the temperatures got, even when I was getting 90C (194 F !!!!) the fan never went above 10% of max speed.I used RivaTuner, and set the fan to 60% which I could not here over sound from my case, and when playing Crysis at all very high, it never got over 75. I would like Nvidia to fix the drivers to make the fan work automatically per temperature. I care more about having my card working than temporary noise if the card is too hot.
I spent ~$300 for the video card including shipping, I did not want to spend more money and time getting a third party fan for a video card that should work out of the box.
Any other 8800 GT owners can you tell me your solution to the card's high heat?
