I recently came back into ownership of a Sapphire 8500LE. I can't find any softmods for this thing, so anyone know if there is anything I can do to make this thing a bit faster, other than overclocking?

Thanks.

Softmod into what? Last time I checked, the 8500LE doesn't turn into anything else...

Didn't know if it could go to a pro or something. I don't really know much about the ATI flavor of cards until you get to the 9800 series.

I bought the same card (64MB version) when it came out. *Sigh* Good times.
There were only 4 versions of the 8500 that I know of:

8500 (275/275) 64MB & 128MB
8500LE (250/250) 64MB & 128MB

The only difference is clock speed, so your only hope is to overclock.

The 8500 will flash to a 9100 with a bios

the 9100 offers a little more aggressive memory timings, so that will make it faster at stock speeds.

If you overclock the more aggressive timings can hurt you by not allowing you as high of an overclock on the memory.

Assuming the 9100 flash part is right, he's very right abou the memory timings..

Just OC.

there was a 8500 known as the LELE... 230/230, the mod that was big back then was the LE to retail, alot of people did bios flash, but it needed to be volt modded or else you would have alot of artifacts
