$850 laptop suggestions?

I'm looking to buy a laptop to hold me over untill I buy a good desktop. I'll be using it for movies/videos, gaming, surfing, and tuning MegaSquirt (Engine management).

I've never owned a laptop before. Please, i'm looking for personal experience, I hate going by specs

Used/refurbished is OK.

All suggestions are welcome

I have a 1505, and while it's an awesome performer, it's not a heavy gaming machine. For all of your other criteria, it should be suitable.
