Does the 840 Pro use Sync NAND? My understanding is that Sync NAND is able to keep up its speed as it fills up. Is this right?

No that's not right. Sync nand is faster, dosen't have anything to do with truespeed. that SSD uses toggle nand.

The 840 Pro uses Toggle-mode flash. Toggle flash only comes in one variety -- it is NOT divided into synchronous and asynchronous varieties as is ONFI flash.

Like I already explained it used toggle nand.

There's a table on this page of the TechReport Crucial M500 review which lists which recent SSDs have sync, which have async, and which have toggle flash.

Samsung uses Toggle in all of its recent SSDs, and apparently will in the EVO as well. Intel and Crucial seem to only use sync. OCZ has some sync, some async. Corsair has some sync, some async, and one with toggle.
