840 Pro on SATA2 controller

My first SSD - I picked up a 128GB 840 Pro (couldn't pass up the deal). My system is a few years old, though, and I'm running an AMD 790x chipset with no SATA3 controller.

My question is this:

What should I expect to see for transfer rates/IOPS on this SATA2 controller?

Using Samsung Magician I'm seeing 275/255 seq. r/w and ~32k on both 4k tests.

I understand that this drive has the potential to saturate the SATA2 controller, but I had also heard that the random tests shouldn't suffer much vs a SATA3. Maybe someone could shed some light on the situation for me.

I do intend to make a platform upgrade soon, but I'm just concerned there's something wrong that I should address in the meantime.

Thanks.
