I flashed an 840 Pro with the latest firmware from a bootable cd. I put the drive in IDE mode and the firmware failed: firmware version mismatch. I tired doing this first via the magician software also in windows while in ahci mode but it said failed also, which prompted me to use the cd. Now when setting the drive to ahci again and booting back into W7, the magician software is telling me that it is the current firmware. What I'm afraid happened was the drive was updated incorrectly with only the version #. Is there a way to force a firmware flash with the current firmware version that is on the drive?

I have no idea what else to do.

Thanks :)

I doubt your drive would otherwise be functioning fine if the firmware flash actually went wrong.

Why did you have to switch to IDE mode in order to flash from CD?

I've seen the FW update process not detect the drive unless the drive was in IDE mode. I recall a Crucial M4 that was being fussy and took many tries to update.

Is there a way to flash a drive with the same version that is already on there?
