I have enough for the 820 from selling my secondary comp. I rarely if ever play games (occasionally I will play a bit of garry's mod) but I do a ton of multitasking (cinema 4d rendering while building UT2k3 maps). Right now I have a 3500+, but I could sell it and the mobo and make enough money to get a decent video card for a Pentium D rig. Should I switch?
 
If your going dual core I would have to say go with AMD they seem to have the better dual core solution. From what you have said you could keep you mobo check to see if it is dual core capable may require a bios upgrade, it is a 939 mobo right, then I would just sell your A64 3500 and buy a 6800gs and a 3800 X2 so you have some kind of decent gaming card and a sweet dual core.
 
What about if I have no money to afford an X2, and saving 5 bucks a week is not an option?
 
Well whats your budget in dollar amount maybe it will be easier if I/we knew how much money you have to work with also tell us what you already have.
 
OH, never mind. Today is one of the best days, forget the pentium D 820, I got a job, NO MORE 5 bucks a week and no more bottom of the barrel components.
