80mm fans ?

i dont know too much about fans really, im using the apogee drive block with the little swiftech res and a 80mm black ice micro for my e2180, at the moment im using some lian li ones but i know theres quieter ones out there, whats some nice quiet 80mm ones ?

also whats your thoughts on the 9db SilenX ones ? i know they wouldnt be any good for my rad im thinking about for the other holes in my case... they seem good but at like 15 bux a piece i dont know lol.
 
I have some Panaflo 80mm fans that move quite a bit of air and are really quiet. The selection for 80mm fans is fairly limited though.
 
First of all, what are your current temps? and the CFM rating on the current fans?
Often lower dBa = lower CFM, and with a single 80mm radiator a low CFM fan may not be enough to cool your 3Ghz Intel...
 
Ehh, don't buy SilenX crap. They mis-rate their fans.

Why don't you upgrade to a 30$ 120mm radiator (the Black Ice Pro at dangerdenstore.com is 27$) and a 3$ yate loon fan?

You'll cut your noise in half, and lower your temperatures a few degrees too.

because the 80mm one fits perfectly in the top blowhole on my pc-65 with a 120mm and a fan adaptor its a really tight fit and messing with the power supply cables... i could easily fit another one on the exhaust of the case though, but then there'd be no point me looking for really slow fans for the exhaust lol so i guess im just looking for the equivalent of yate loons in 80mm now :-D
 
Well, in that case, go for some of the Scythe 80mm fans... But no 80mm fan is "quiet" :eek:

If you want one, I've got one with the leads clipped off in my drawer. It's yours if you pay shipping...

(not exactly in the best condition, the paint I used on the fins is rubbing off, but it works perfectly fine)

well.... sorta, theres a good site that has tons of variety.

granted that some of the products are useless, but in the fans section, it usually shows noise and airflow.

first off you need to know that the standard computer fan noise is about 18~22 db... and the average airflow for a 80mm is around 30 cfm

silent fans should be rated at 18db or less... try to find the highest cfm at 18db or lower and i doubt you will regret it

I think your measures are 10-15dba too low... Most computers stand around 35-40dba... And most watercooling setups stand around 35dba or so, with most "silent" builds averaging 20-25dba.

18dba would be quieter than a light breeze running across your ears.

maybe all together they are that loud... but trust me i did my research and i bout a 40 db fan anyway cause it pushed around 97 cfm... ive never heard a computer as loud as it was...since then i have found a 18db fan that pushes 78 cfm and it sounds just like any fan u can find on a dell computer

all that aside xoxide has multiple fans under 18db with decent airflow
 
i like my thermaltake i-flash that sits on the rear exhaust but SHIT.. its probably accountable for half of the noise of the entire machine, its about the equivalent of the 4 lian-li fans ive got in there lol
