80gb drive not seen by Bios

My sister just bought a new 80GB drive for her ancient 300Mhz Pentium 2. But the Bios does not see/recognize it. I think her computer may have the 8GB barrier problem. If she buys an add in card for her new drive will she be able to use her new drive? Will she be able to install windows on it as well?

from what i've encountered with "promise cards," is they need the drivers installed after the operating system has been installed. your motherboard, and moreso that one, is it will not recognize it until after you have the OS installed.
