Solid build but a lot of the parts are overpriced. For example if you live close to a Microcenter you can get an Intel 2500K + Gigabyte Z68 mobo for $230 + tax.

Also hard drives are really overpriced ATM. If you can live with only having a few games installed at a time go with a 128GB SSD.

any specific reason for the fx4100? If you are gaming, an i3 or a 960t may be better for about the same price. i have had issues with that ram in my amd board also.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220569 1600 for about the same price

2500k combo + his 6870 right at $800 (dvd drive not included) (794 shipped, no tax in area selected for shipping, does newegg charge tax in your area?)

Unless you really want that AMD CPU for illogical reasons, you're better off with an Intel CPU from a best bang for the buck perspective. With the following cuts/modifcations as well as the remaining cash leftover in your budget, you can easily afford this fast Intel CPU:
$190 - Intel Core i5-2400 CPU

Motherboard wise, I recommend these mobos:
$115 - Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3H-B3 Intel Z68 ATX Motherboard
$115 - MSI P67A-G43 Intel P67 ATX Motherboard

Definitely go with the RAM that Malecoda recommended for two reasons:
1) It's slightly faster
2) It's clocked at 1.65V which is too much voltage for Intel CPUs. As a result, that RAM may end up damaging an Intel CPU. The RAM that Malecoda recommended is 1.5V which is just right for Intel CPUs.

Hard drive wise, if there's any part you need to order today without question, it's that hard drive as it currently has a $40 off promo code "EMCJHJE29" that knocks it down to $110. That's a damn good price for a fast 1TB drive and more than likely the best price you're gonna see for a few months.

PSU wise, that EA500D is overpriced considering that this higher amperaged and better quality Antec Neo Eco 620C costs $1 less:
$69 - Antec NEO ECO 620C 620W PSU

DVD drive, this should work fine:
$17 - Samsung SH-222AB SATA DVD Burner

You should have enough freed up cash for this faster video card:
$213 - Gigabyte GTX 560 TI 1GB PCI-E Video Card
