Remember, if you decide to post a comment on this story, you will stop breathing and probably die.

Do you have EMAIL APNOEA? 80% of people stop breathing properly when typing - and it could be damaging our health Email apnea occurs when body goes into 'fight or flight' mode while typing It can cause excessive sweating, an increased heart rate and dilated pupils Linda Stone, who coined the phrase, believes 80% of us suffer from it.

I would call bullshit on this story, but I am afraid I might die from the act of doing so.... oh wait I did ty.....<falls over from not breathing>

Yeah I have to second this, makes no sense. What kinda emails are these people reading? Just some silly woman trying to make a name for herself.

Do you have a real source? The Daily Mail is a similar news organisation to The Onion.

I forget to breath for long periods of time playing Borderlands 2 sometimes. Typing is not quite so exciting.

Note the daily mail is the same news organisation that published such headlines as "Immigrants will eat our children!" and "The real threat: A FLOATING BOMB!"

They also backed hitler during WW2

This occurs during anything that requires immense amounts of focus, not just typing.

This is just something for people to get all butthurt and bent out of shape about.

Hmmmm..... They probably get excited when going to their favorite porn site or receiving their pornographic images from their co-workers.

I fainted while peeing once lol.
At least typing is safer as I sit down then.

I forget to breathe when I'm concentrating on a game really hard, doing pvp, fighting a tough boss... something like that. Ends up giving me a headache sometimes if I'm gaming for hours.

But typing? I never considered that something that required a level of concentration that you'd forget to breathe. It's not like you're trying to line up a headshot...

Immigrants will actually eat your children.

I think they're referring to those times when someone is wrong on the internet and you just have to type out a huge rant about why.

Maybe 80% of people cant type and the concentration gets the better of them.

I’m not sure if I can believe this but I rbember I htenn sudlaendy rrr fniat taiw Im o halpp rrrrrrr

Is the reason I cant understand that at my end or yours?

If so, I should be dead from playing games and taking tests in school.

I could totally believe 80% of people don't breathe properly when typing.

Note that breathe improperly doesn't = pass out/die.

Err... you do realise that you start breathing properly again before you die?

Seriously, has no one here ever been so focused on something that they don't breathe for a few few seconds without even thinking about it? It doesn't mean you die.

But I could definitely see it making someone feel a bit faint, maybe tired, giving them a headache or just not being great for their health if they're not breathing properly for long periods of time.

Definitely see it being worth further study.

Breaking news! People hold their breath for extended periods while concentrating! More at 11 with our other top story on how people bite their tongues and lips while concentrating on tasks.

I type at the same speed that i verbally communicate. I wouldnt be surprised if there are people who internally whisper their typed words. Not that i care.

This. It has happened to me while writing business emails that I have to put a ton of thought in to.

Typewriters have been around for how long?
Yeah, this article is over a hundred years too late.

This reminds me of new articles "just finding out" that video games have violence.
It's like, where the fuck was the author back in the early 90's when Wolfenstein 3D and DOOM were mainstream?

Freakin' noobs! :D

My body goes into fight or flight mode when I enter the Windows 8 Start menu.

I met a guy who could hold his breath for six minutes, I bet he types a lot.

I've never had a problem breathing while typing, but now you brought my attention to it:

Manual breathing activated.

Thanks a lot Steve!

aww crap, i answer emails for a living as part of my job. Does this mean that i'll have a lower life expectancy?

Maybe i need to get an oxygen tank.
