My power supply cables cannot reach all the way to the top of the case where the Intel P4 power connector becasue the tubing for the processor keeps me from being able to run the cable in the shortest path to make it to the top. I was wondering if anyone has found an 8 pin extension for this cable. I have found plenty of 4 pin but no 8 pin.

Dayum, wish I had that problem. I'm going through a lot of work to make everything shorter. Heh.

Just make your own. Head to the local computer shop, purchase the 8 pin molex, some wire, and a few ATX pins. Strip, crimp, insert bam.

Ever since I learned, I do custom PSU wires for myself now.

that's the way I will be doing it, the adapters just look bad with those big connectors, I am going to lengthen the wires and run it along the back of the the mobo tray most likely.

anyone know what guage the wires are coming off a PSU? I am thinking they are 18AWG but I cannot seem to remember.

It depends on the quality of the manufacturer. High class PSU's use 18 gauge, but I have also seen 20 gauge on the cheaper ones.

I use 16 for my main rail, but 18 is the standard.

20 has been used on occasion, but damn, they shouldn't.
