I read the FAQ before posting.

I have a 120mm Blowhole and I wanted to slow it down a bit by doing the 7v mod. Now its only got the 3-Pin Fan Tail on it. The FAQ shows only how to do it w/ a 4-Pin Molex. Can I do the 7v trick on a 3Pin?

I think you need to get a connector that changes the 3pin to a molex then mod it from there. The reason for this is the 3pin has no 5v on it.

^^ What he said. In order to get the 7v mod, you need the 12v line and the 5v line. So you'll need to get a 4-pin to 3-pin adaptor, then play around with the wires.

You don't need to buy any connectors unless you are afraid to cut a couple wires and you like spending money. Just cut the positive and negative wires of the fan(you can leave the tach sense connected so that you can read the speed of the fan). Wire those up to 12V and 5V from somewhere. All it takes is wire cutters and a bit of electrical tape and it ends up being much cleaner than having a bunch of adapters wired up.

yea, just cut off the 3-pin and splice it into a 4pin pass-through cable. just splice the ground into the 5V and the -12V into the -12V. (thats black into red and yellow into yellow)

done.
