Holy piss. This is a pricing error or something, or they're getting ready for the 290X release? Anyway, this destroys Titan, 780GTX, 290, 290X etc. which are all more expensive and may very well retain the maximum performance crown for a "single" card.

not gunna lie though, if i had the funds id buy one and mod it to fit my 2 slot case.
 
bioshock infinite, tomb raider, crysis 3, hitman absolution, sleeping dogs, far cry 3 blood dragon, far cry 3, deus ex human revolution
 
basically all AWESOME in demand games that would be easy as hell to hock for like $20 a pop. yeah you could realistically get away with this for like $400 if you are savvy. I think people here would pick those up.

Anyway, about the card, I think this is NOT reference if I'm not mistaken. I plan to water cool it and I think EK makes a block specifically for this version. I am not sure if this is voltage locked, although at this price it's pretty hard to beat regardless.

That said, there are a lot of complaints about 7990 in general and on the newegg review page for this version about really loud coil whine that is worth considering, so it would probably be wise to buy a warranty for this really expensive, complicated GPU.

$20 a pop for those games? Bioshock Infinite is currently on sale for $10 on Amazon, and Deus Ex has been available for under $5. I don't really follow the other games enough to know their pricing history, but I don't imagine many, if any, of those games can easily be sold for $20.

The games are a nice bonus though.
 
Late to the party, this was already posted. :D As far as the water block goes, that is what killed it for me. It does make it a two slot card, but it's $200. Also, do not count on selling the games for $20 a pop, I would say anywhere from $50 to $80 for all the games, but that is still money off the GPU, making it an even better deal.
 
3 slot, 3x 8-pin, and much much louder than the reference version. Good price but just be aware of the caveats.

Well competing water blocks for reference other version run $150 anyway, and the EK block for this looks good so you get what you pay for. Also it's worth noting that people have successfully flashed this card to the Powercolor Devil 13 card and achieved greater overclocks, although apparently both BIOS's are voltage locked.
 
Wow this looks like the dual 7970 version pretty slick, any one know of any benchmarks at 4k with this and possibly xfire with a 7970 ghz ? $499 is a smoking deal let alone the 8 games (even -50 if sold =wow)

One thing that would worry me is that some of the reviewers commented about coil wine, any ideas how to mitigate this if you had such a symptom?
 
I'm tempted to get this. Was going to get an R9 280X but for not much more this might be a better deal. I'm not sure about a triple slot card in my current case though and I'd probably have to upgrade my power supply.

Same here. I'd like to get this 7990, but I'd probably have to buy a new case and PSU, too. I'm sure the cost would be close to a wash if I sold my 780 and returned my 760X2 PSU. Not sure I feel like going through all the hassle.

2. Two 7870s are faster than one 7990?
 
I have the money but not brave enough to fool with crossfire. this is a killer deal though.

I bought a 7950 almost exactly this time last year... about how much of a bump ballpark would we see with this?

Hmmmm... then again, I wonder if I even need this. I am running a Dell U3011 (2560x1600) but haven't really seen my games chugging.
 
Meh, think I'm going to pass. Been reading about how hot and loud this runs, and it sounds like it would be overkill for a single (even 2560x1600) monitor setup.

By the time we have affordable 4K monitors at 60hz+, I think we'll have more efficient video cards for the purpose too.

Well, it *IS* (2) 7970's in every way, except for lower clock speeds..It has the same number of ROPs, Shaders, and Memory...With good airflow, or under water cooling, they can easily be clocked to 7970Ghz speeds..This is a pretty amazing deal, but I wouldn't buy it unless I was going to WC, though that holds for any 7990 IMO..The gains you can net due to the iceberg chilly VRMs are very nice..

the 7990 is clocked higher than the regular 7970 cards. it has the full memory speed of the 7970 ghz and only 50mhz lower core than the 7970 ghz.

I get chugging playing Sleeping Dogs with (2) 7950. Even Borderlands 2 will fall below 60fps at times with one.

I'd love to have this card, but I don't need it.

It appears to be back in stock.

Its the same as 2x 7970's in CF. The CF in of itself works fine. The problem with CF or SLI is that 1)if a game doesn't work with it you've effectively halved your performance 2)lots of games don't work with CF/SLI though AMD/nV have gotten better about fixing that, and 3)micro stutter is mitigated with AMD CF at resolutions of 1440p or less and no multi monitor set up. nV has been better about fixing micro stutter though AMD is catching up nicely.

Personally I never had a problem with it when I had 2x 4890's but a lot of that is perception. Some people noticed micro stutter right away and some didn't. If you noticed it though it drove you nuts.

Soooo...a 7990 can be a good buy, especially at this price, if most of the games you play work with CF and isn't if they don't. Just be aware this is a 3x slot card, needs 3x 8 pin power connectors to work, and is known to be loud.
 
Even though this card is really two gpus slapped together, what I've read is that the total ram is 6GB and it can actually be accessed, as opposed to putting two 7950 3GB cards together and only having access to 3gb.
 
I have a lot of games, the only one that doesn't use two GPUs is TF2. Or anything you play in Windowed mode.

you read wrong as this is no different than running crossfire 3gb cards when it comes to vram.
 
I'm dying to get this, but I think I really need to upgrade my 1090T gaming box first.

This is incorrect. The 7990 is "CF on a stick" so it still has the memory limitation where each GPU can only use the memory pool its directly connected with as with regular CF a la 2x 7950's.
