7970 Gamma?

I'm on 100% default settings and the gamma just seems... off. I never noticed it prior to a reformat I did over the weekend. I came from nVidia, so I'm not sure if that's why it's looking different, or if MS changed the default gamma settings in SP1.

haha! that's actually true. AMD has more "faded" colors (I guess thats their default drivers). You have to setup your monitor's options and make it look as you please. (start by changing the color tone and gama in your monitor's options)
 
I swapped the HDMI to DVI cable I was using with a straight HDMI and it looks normal to me now. I don't get how that could've made any difference since both are digital signals. I hooked another monitor up to the DVI port to make sure it wasn't confined to that port and the image was totally normal.
 
Easy, on CCC> My digital panels > Pixel Format, change between full rgb and the other mode, i bet that you will suddenly see again the "washed out" colors... it is just a slight difference in gamma from one pixel format to another, and to output HDMI>DVI it defaults the pixel format is all.
