7970 + Flash = Artifacts?

I purchased a Sapphire 7970 OC used 2 weeks ago and have stressed it while playing some BF3 (that game is full of probs) and it has performed just fine. It can handle the 1GHz speed, I've overclocked it to 1100/1525 without tinkering just to see what it can do.

My problem is that even at stock 950/1500 if I play BF3 and exit and open up Youtube --- OR I just use my pc for awhile and then open up Youtube I can almost always get full screen artifacts. The screen goes black with vertical multicolored lines on the top half while the bottom is black and flickering. I restart and it goes back to normal.

What could be causing this? I think it has to do with Flash.
 
it's possible that if you flashed your vbios it changed some voltage parameters causing your artifacts, have you tried opening the vbios and inspecting the elements?
 
It could possibly be voltage settings, but the only thing I've ever changed was the Core voltage in MSI + Catalyst. As for memory voltage or anything more delicate I haven't touched it.


Just now I had yotube loading up a video and it "black screened" with the screen cut in 2 halves as stated above. Yet the video would not load up and play. I would have heard it :(

Yeah, I see vertical artifacts too. I've seen quite a few other people report it on the forums too. I usually see vertical lines across the entire screen but only a couple of them. Once my pc locked up with a bunch of vertical lines. I've seen this with several 7950s on a machine that didn't do that with a nvidia card.

You could try and disable hardware acceleration in flash, that helps for some people. There was also some fix listed for firefox in the latest beta 12.9. That might be worth a shot.
