7970 CF Driver issue

Got my 2x XFX 7970 (replaced my 2x HIS 6970 CF IceQ).

Here is the chain of events:
I upgraded drivers from 11.12 to Jan 9 7900 AMD driver.
Uninstalled drivers. Driver Sweeper
Reinstalled Jan 9 7900 AMD driver.

Cards are recongized and catalyst is up but any change I make on CCC (Eyefinity group or resolution) or any change in windows to Extend desktop or resolution. And the Screen Goes Black!

Now I get a error : MOM.I....(cant remember the rest)

Think of reloading win 7 64 bit.
 
Same issue. But I got two sapphire 7970's. I upgraded from a single HD 5970. Using driver sweeper and TwL ATI crap cleaner didn't help. Reformat did :p A reformat in the sense of not an image format but a true format and updating to SP1. Also I think I need a better case. My Obsidian 800D is getting alittle warmer than I like. Maybe I should get Enermax Fulmo GT ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811124142&Tpk=enermax fulmo gt ) It does have alot of room and the fans are at the right spot.
 
ONLY DO THIS IF YOUR RUNNING AN INTEL PROCESSOR

Uninstall CCC, reboot, type "regedit" in the start panel:

Open "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" then open its software folder and delete everything AMD/ATI
Open "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" then open its software folder and delete everything AMD/ATI

Go back to desktop, enable hidden system/folders and files to be viewed. Then go to c:\users\your user name\app data...then delete everything AMD/ATI outta local & roaming folders.

Delete all amd/ati folder in windows explorer, run driver sweeper, then reboot and install your new drivers.

I was able to install driver after follwing your guide, but I still get black screen when trying to change resolution or eyefinity groups. Going to reload win7
 
Before you do that, change your video driver to VGA, reboot, start Windows and abort any driver installs, then do a clean shutdown and reboot and then try installing the drivers.
 
I had a similar problem recently when I was on 5870's CF. The issue ended up being that durring uninstal the ATI driver remover had encountered an error. No amount of Driver sweeper did anything for it. Here's what I did.
I rebooted not realizing that the uninstall not completing fully would be a problem. The unistall had frozen up and I had killed the process.
I then rebooted into safe mode ran driver sweeper and rebooted again
I installed the catalyst drivers and rebooted
I was greeted with Blue screen of death every time
I rebooted into safe mode and ran driver sweeper again
booted into windows upon trying to install catalyst again I noticed it said that some things were already installed even though I had run driver sweeper and manually removed all the folders that Catalyst installs into.
So instead of installing I use the setup program to go ahead and remove the components it said were already installed
reboot into safe mode run driver sweeper again
boot into windows and run catalyst setup it says nothing is already installed, install and reboot problem solved

Damn these 7970 CF is smoking fast.
 
Make sure to be running CCleaner even after using DriverSweeper for all the registry crap DriverSweeper doesn't fix. It should fix the problem.

Just wanted to pop in and say that there are known issues with the drivers from AMD's site especially with crossfire setups and it's best to use the ones that came on the cd with your cards ATM.

My 7970 CF runs great with the downloaded beta drivers. Not one issue.
 
Good for but dozens of other people have had serious issues with them.
 
even after clean install, BF3 will only play in a window. When I launch full screen it freezes.
tried 5760x1200 and 1920x1200. No OC yet on the cards.

working on it now.

Works fine for me at 2560x1600. Keep us up to date on this :) I am wondering why you're stuck in window mode.
 
i dont know how you folks put up with amd drivers, unless its a hobby for you guys.

after the 5970 i had for just 3 days until i got rid of it i made a decision that i rather have a gpu that eats 5x times more power but with working drivers.

i personally think that amd released the 7970 like a chiken with no head, they should of worked on the drivers more, why did they rush it out the door since nvidia isnt coming out with anything until march/april, i dont get it.

SOLVED.
Well a reload fixed everything. Not sure how I messed everything up.
I didnt have SP1 on my win 7 x64 on the second pass. (which is required for CCC).

With OS updated and latest drivers, I am all good.

5760x1200 on BF3 with everything utla I am getting 65-85 FPS. On my 2x6970CF I was getting 45-50 FPS.
Its is very smooth gameplay.
 
I'm getting freezing when I try to run my 7970 CrossFire. Did a clean sweep and reinstalled 11.12's

I'm running Win7 but without service pack 1. Do I need SP1 to use CrossFire?
