7970 benchmarks leaked

If the 7970/7950 launch happens at CES, then cards should be on their way to reviewers or already there.
I do notice that Kyle has not been posting in the forums for a couple of days.

Pretty hard to do that on account of that department being all fired up around 1-2 weeks after Bulldozer was out.
 
I skipped on 69XX and fermi refresh, so keen to get a new gpu in Jan - if it within 80-120% of my 5870 CF I will bite. Really like the idea of having just a single card again for awhile, but might not be able to stop myself getting 2. 5870's since launch was a great buy, even BF3 can't upset them @ 1920.
 
I'm shrinking my computer down to a miniATX and smaller case. This would be perfect to run my 30" monitor with. Will have to switch back from Nvidia but I don't care. Am excited to go with a one card cooler solution that's more energy efficient and faster.

Hmm when was the last time you saw a single chip double the last gen dual chip card? I can answer that for you, never.

I hear that comment so much, sometimes I feel that some people might not know that 590 is a dual 580 chip, with lower clocks. Hmm.

He didn't say double the performance of two gpus from the previous gen. He just wants faster than two gpus from the previous gen which has happened. 8800gtx was faster then sli 7900gtx and 7800gtx was faster than sli 6800 ultra.
 
AMD pretty much told everyone what Caymen was before release as it was just to fix the issues with Cypress and the target was 480GTX .. They did everything said but i think Nvidia was the one not buying it as they played there trump card with the 570/580GTX before Caymen released..

Now Nvidia will pay for useing that trump card to early because they have notting coming for SI but also couldn't afford to keep making and selling the 480GTX at a lose.

lol, I think a 6970 would bring you huge improvements (depending on resolution).

Im hoping for a beast of a card to come out of one of the GPU camps to match the beast of engine that DICE is selling to everyone and anyone, id like to be able to tri-fire 7970s and run max eyecandy at eyefinity resolutions.
 
The 9700 Pro was released in 2002. Shit! that's gone fast. :eek:

I remember her like it was yesterday, fitting an aftermarket cooler (iceberq? a dual slot cooler, which seemed massive and overkill at the time). To taking a soldering iron to her when the power connector got fried (maybe the cooler wasn't excess).

If the 7000 series is half as good as that was at the time, then we're in for a treat.

Not sure what you are trying to say here? Are you trying to say that Nvidia doesn't have enough money to keep innovating? Are you trying to say that Nvidia will not have new card to rival AMDs? Are you trying to say they have nothing new to offer?

Because the answer to all of that is yes, they most certainly do. AMD is winning on the price/performance ratio, but not on performance and versatility. Nvidia has been selling cards like hotcakes lately on the Supercomputer and high computing markets, as well as the general commercial graphics market. Not to mention, they have had better driver releases and game optimization lately.

The combination of AMD/ATI has not fully come to realization yet, and hopefully with this next set, we will finally see some more collaborative improvements. I am hoping to see maybe some more physics processing on chip as well as more efficiently pipeline and shader use, especially with CFX solutions which they have been improving lately. But more than all that, I am hoping they start spending some money and collaborate more with game developers to get better performance and optimization for new games and really sell their Eyefinity and CFX solutions more.

Yes it would, but the only reason I held off on those is because I heard of the 7 series coming soon. If the 7 series kills the 6 series, that will make for an even sweeter upgrade.
 
I'm in the same boat as you FramePointer, except that I'm in China and I already sold my 5770 to a classmate. it was probably my only chance to sell my card and it helps me focus on my thesis. I'm looking at the 7850-7870 thought as I game on a 22".
