7970/7950 user experience?

I've been running crossfired 7970's since launch. Not one problem with any game. They run great.

I went from an x58 asus motherboard to an x79 asus motherboard, the latter of which uses UEFI. If that really is the issue then what can i possibly do to resolve the problems i'm having? Unless amd releases a new bios/epic driver fix i will be fucked over big time...

I'm speaking on a very general level. I've usually seen more problems with AMD cards and certain motherboards than I've seen on the NVIDIA side. That being said, I've personally not had any problems with the 6xxx or 7xxx series cards.

well i have... The weird thing is that the issues followed me from my old x58 asus motherboard to my new x79 asus motherboard.
perhaps an issue with asus? But wouldn't more people have this issue then?
yet my friend, who also owns an x58 motherboard (the evga classified) tried these cards too. And the difference was immediately noticable, things just ran much smoother, even on the desktop and stuff like youtube.
As i have said before, i could only test it for about an hour which isn't nearly enough to test every aspect but in that hour they didn't show any of the behavior i'm experiencing in my own system.

The ONLY hardware that has survived the upgrade are a bunch of data drives and the psu but i cannot imagine that being the issue.
I logged the voltages and apart from a little "droop" of about 0.03v when under heavy load the voltages don't move. gpu-z says the 12v rail is at about 12.22 and can drop to 12.19 at times but those deviations are so small that they aren't even noteworthy.

afaik the 12v rail has a 10% "safezone" in wich it will not cause issues. That's a 1.2v buffer.
 
7950 and using HDMI, no issues in games whatsoever, however, I've issues with sound (no playback devices) once my monitor comes out of standby.
NO issues with sleep though and I've the latest drivers.
 
I have a 7950 that I got for $200. It's not all sunshine though.

Pros: I got incredible bang for my buck. This is probably the best $200 I have ever spent on a single component.

Cons: I experienced driver issues from the first week. Nothing big, no huge instability or anything. There's just some weird quirks that show up from time to time. A coupe times I've had text go fuzzy and reconnecting my monitor's DVI cable solves it. Every now and then my driver seems to crash and reset. I never see it but after having my monitor off I sometimes turn it on to find all my windows resized as if my screen resolution dropped to 800x600.

Overall: I'm still super happy with my purchase but I do long for an Nvidia card. I never had a single problem with any of the several I have owned. Would I buy it again? Yes, without question. Like I said, HUGE bang for my dollar.
