Hi guys.

So I have a 7950gx2.

And a 3800+ overclocked at 2.4GHz. 2gb of ram.

I'm running my games a 1920 X 1080, 4xaa, 16xaf,

running 4xaa is necessary with my setup, because I'm on a 47" display.

Do you think upgrading to a Conroe system, something like a e6600, would raise my frame rates in games like Oblivion ?

Thank you very much and sorry about my english... I'm Still learning..

I think that hardocp's initial reviews showed that at higher resolutions (ie. 1920x1200), especially with games like Oblivion, you will be gpu limited. The extra cpu power did not translate to discernable tangible differences in overall performance (at least in comparing the core 2 duo high ends to the fx62).

I would reccoment Quad SLI at that res if you want more FPS, as a CPU isn't going to help more than 2FPS.

but then he will be somewhat cpu limited with quad sli.

I was doing some tests with my GX2 at 1920x1200 about two weeks ago. FEAR with all settings maxed showed no change with a C2D at stock 6400 speeds and 3.2GHz.

With my GX2 OCed to 550/1400 I started showing a SLIGHT drop in frames between stock 6400 speeds and 6600 speeds. The 6400 at stock had an AVG fps of 79 and my avg for 2.4GHz and above was 82.

Keep in mind that a 3800+ is way behind a C2D in processing power but with one GX2 you're still mostly limited by the GPU at those resolutions and quality settings. If you drop some of the quality settings you'll see a huge increase in FPS and you'll be CPU limited much faster but I bought my GX2 so I could run at max/near max settings on the games I play and still get a very good framerate on my Dell 2407.
