Looking to replace a very old 7950 that is on its way out. Not looking to spend more than around $100. Used is fine but performance needs to be equal or higher than the 7950.

Would prefer nvidia but thats not a deal breaker.

I think the 7950 is within the range of an RX 560 - GTX 1050 ti. Because of the Crypto-inflation, I'd go Nvidia. AMD cards have really been jacked up because of mining.

Its a pretty bad time to buy a video card, especially at that price. I would suggest downloading a yardseller site like Letgo or Offer up. Do your research on performance per dollar and try to snag something within your price range.

Did some looking around.

Here are my options

970gtx - $170 used
1050ti - $180 bstock
1060gtx 3gb - $200 used
1060gtx 6gb - $250 used

Really didn't want to spend that much but I need to get the spare/wife's pc running correct again.

Opinions?

She does game but nothing major. fortnight, overwatch, few older MMOs.

Thinking either the 970 or 1060 3gb

Those 1060s are at msrp. If you go that route, just keep checking online for a new card. Especially if they are old miner cards.

I would go with a 970, or even an R9 280/280x(yeah, I know the 280 is the 7950, but they are decent cards).
I have seen some OEM HP 1060 3gb cards for ~175. Don't rule those out. Single fan, and don't look as cool, but people seem to be pulling them out of their HP's for quick cash(probably the one Wal Mart had for sale dirt cheap at Black Friday).
Or bargain hunt for like a 660Ti/670/760/770/780 or something like that.
