7900 GT Voltmodding- is it worth it?

I just bought another EVGA 7900 GT KO ($205 at Newegg) for SLI, along with 2 Zalman VF-900 VGA coolers. I'm planning on doing the 1.5 V voltmod on the GPU, and maybe the memory mod- I would just like some info on what kind of performance gains people have been getting. I know you can get pretty ridiculous GPU and RAM overclocks with this mod, so I'm just curious how easy it was to do and if it makes *that* much of a difference.

Thanks!

I applied the 7900GT voltmod to my 7900GS. Core went from 450 to 681.

Memory went from 560 to 840 without voltmodding, so I didn't bother.

nice!! what does your card o/ced compared with in terms of higher up stock cards? i'm looking to do the same thing when i get my 7900gs. also, how much of a boost did it help in your core speeds vs nonvoltmodded overclock?

also, are you using stock cooling or water/better air?

edit: oh wow i saw in your other thread you went from 570 up to 681. niiiiice

I am using a Zalman vf900cu on mine. I volted it up to 1.55 and it never goes above 70*C, which is below what it did with the stock cooler and stock clocks.

Overclocked from 500mhz/1500 to 700/1740.

My 3dmark05 went from ~8300 to 11,500, but some of that was with the switch to core 2 duo.

Oblivion went from unplayable at max settings to quite playable.

Here's a score and FPS sheet a started when I actually started paying attention to this stuff...

Yeah, mine went from a 560 nonvolted to 700 volted. My memory did 925 with the stock cooler on, but when I took it off for my watercooling the temps went up and I had to lower the memclock to only 900. Memory not volted either.

I voltmodded mine to 1.4, and got roughly 100 more mhz above my current OC but the temps were too high for my liking. If you've got good enough cooling (water would be my suggestion) you can get pretty large gains.

Check out my sig!
VMOD is crazy...my 3dmark05 increased like 2000-3000 from 8500 stock to like 11000 something (maybe even 12000...can't remember, have sold the fx-55 since and am waiting on a x2 deal so am using the laptop)

stock was 500/1500 to 700/1900

I could go to 750/1980 but I get scared

edit: my temps were about 65-70 when playing f.e.a.r and such

According to UPS, I get my 7900 and (2) VF-900-Cu's today. Can't wait.

Stupid me didn't realize that you lose a PCI slot, so now me gots to go buy a freakin' USB wireless adapter since I can't use my PCI wireless card... *dumba$$* *slaps forehead*

And on another note - my girlfriend's dad is a mechanical engineer, so he loaned me his Fluke multimeter... can't beat that, although using a $100 multimeter might be a little overkill... :) Me loves me girlfriend.
