My Sapphire 7870xt is throttling during gaming. It goes from 501 to 925 to my overclocked speed @ 1200.

It seems this is a problem for many people who have this card. After a bit of researching there in no cure other than return the card. Some people say upping the power profile to 120% cures it but it doesn't. It still throttles for me. It seems this is powerplay problem. The card definitely gets enough juice as I'm mining fine @ 1200 without throttling but during gaming it drops back and forth.

Anybody else have this issue? Anyone know a cure? Can anyone edit my powerplay options within bios. RBE does not support 7 series.

What bios version do you have? Bios version 31 seemed to have the throttling issue. (reverting back to 500 even with powertune boosted) Bios 32 seems to have fixed it. You can update the bios yourself. but that voids the warranty. Your best bet is to return the card or RMA it with Sapphire to get a proper card that keeps it's warranty.

I updated both my powercolor 7870 tahiti le cards to bios 32, because I was willing to lose the warranty.

I am monitoring this thread, I am not sure if I am experiencing the same issue but I am curious to see the resolution here.

I did this to mine LTC and it seemed to fixed the problem. So far so good. Before that I had to disable 2D clocks and that seemed to fix the problem temporarily.
