7800GTX FPS problems

Hey guys..

I've noticed serious loss in FPS when i play any kind of game. Right now iam having lots of frames issues playing Counter-Strike Source that will drop to atleast 20fps @ 1024x768 high details, no aa and af. Sometimes it will go as high as 130fps but not stable..like from 130 to 40 to 80 etc. Of course usually that can be normal but it shouldn't be with a BFG 7800 gtx.

I'am using 77.77 drivers currently, ive tried almost all the drivers from guru3d and nvidia's site and came up with the same thing.

Here's my specs:
a64 4000+ stock
1 gig corsair xms pc3200
wd raptor
550watt psu
DFI Lanparty nf4 SLI-DR

I've been thinking though that my a64 4000+ might be slowly going. Ive OCed it so many times i cannot OC anymore(This is when i had a ASUS AV8 deluxe board), it just won't let me..nothing but crashes. When running windows everything seems unstable as well.

Okay. What brand is your PSU? And giving us the amp ratings on the PSu would be good, too, if you have them (especially the 12v line).
Also, it's unlikely you've killed your processor. What's the maximum voltage you've pumped into it (ever) and how long did you run it at that?
Try using just one stick of memory at a time, and run memtest on them. See what happens. The fact that games crash right after loading makes me think "memroy problem".
Also, DFI NF4s have been having a real problem with quality control lately. If you can, swap everything back into the Asus that you said you used to have, and see how it goes with that. The Asus is an NF4 i think, so you shouldnt have to do a fresh Windows install.
 
Trupower 550 watt with 12v lines running 30a each. Ive extremely OCed with different settings so many times its pretty much had it(highest was 2.85ghz @ 1.75v core and memory @ 2.8v using my ASUS av8). Theres been a couple times i forgot to plug in my water cooler and my CPU reached 90C+ which didn't help....its just a matter of time. And no i can't go back to my Asus board cause it has a agp port only and it just plain sucks...raid doesn't even work on it. its not my DFI board i know that for a fact.

I'am gonna try running memtest86 and see if its my memory which i high dought.

Yes, i correct my earlier statement. It could definitely be your processor, especially if you've hit 90C on that...
 
omg, i drop from 160fps to 100fps when there are tons of CTs on my screen.

Your polygon count increases and takes the gpu a few more clocks to get the data out.

Lets see how long it takes you to pick out different patterns from a arbitrarily rotated/scaled bitmap and copy them to the buffer. Then after that lets crank uo the complexity.
