7800GTX - BFG Problems?

That would suck but who cares? Just Overclock it yourself to 470/1300.... should be a peice of cake
 
I care, and others who ordered one, thats who. They advertise that its overclocked, and thats the way you should get it. Would you care if your new CPU was 50Mhz less than what it was supposed to be? I would. Would you care if your new 400gig HD was 10gigs smaller than it should be? I would.

Huge mistake on BFG's part, who I consider top of the NV card suppliers.
 
The reason I'm ordering a BFG over the eVGA and XFX is BECUASE of the 1300mhz mem clock. If it's not clocked at 1300mhz, I'm getting another brand for $599 instead of $620ish.
 
I would just overclock it to those levels and thats it. I really dont get it I guess. I would buy BFG for the life time warranty. But whatever. Im sure you can just return it and get one that is clocked as avertised.
 
I think overclocking it yourself and then you possibly breaking it would void the lifetime warrenty. Not sure on that one.

It's 1.6ns mem, rated for for 1200mhz. It's going to be hard to get 1300mhz out of it without a vmod. If I'm going to pay extra for the OC version, I want to be garanteed it will run at what the manufacturer states are default clocks for the it. BFG states very clearly on the box and website 460/1300. It's called false advertising, devil. To state the mem is clocked at 1300mhz when in reality it's 1200mhz is lying to the consumer and illegal.

Putting it at advertised speeds would not void the warranty. Just contact them about it, they'll probably just give you the OK to put it at that speed.

Lol, I even bet all of you will OC it anyway or will change the stock cooler and if it breaks you'll return it still.
 
I'd jump to conclusions and say it is 1.3GHz. It's been out for days now, and I am sure by now if it was an error, it would have been fixed.

I see what you guys means, but I think it's a coolbits issue not a BFG issue. So follow me on this for a second by going to the NVIDA CP -> clock freq settings tab -> manual overclocking, and then select 3D clocks. While the clocks are 460 / 1200 currently, I found that the "restore defaults" button is available right away and upon clicking it the clocks are set to the default BIOS clocks of 460 / 1300. So the advertised clock speeds are correct, it's just that something weird is going on with coolbits. Please try this and report back results.

This rumor started because of a 3rd party app? I wouldn't trust any app except official ones with a brand spanking new piece of hardware. Have to wait for a new version of coolbits, I'm sure.

My drives are missing many gigabytes, you don't see me complaining...

could it be possible that USMC meant something else?

technically..overclocking the memory to those speeds isn't *really* overclocking, as the card should be at those speeds..

Just to let you guys know, BFG can tell if you overclock your cards. There was a post from a BFG rep here a while back that says in a roundabout way that there is a chip that records any clock speed change. :p

(No, I do not have a link. Do a search or something!)

There's easy ways around that. I don't think they'd care if you overclocked to 1.3GHz when it is as advertised though.

Your drivers are missing no GBs. HD manufactorurs and M$ calculate the GB differently, that is it. Where a HD manu says its 1000MB M$ does some shit like 1024 or something weird like that.
 
You can try a third party app like rivatuner or powerstrip to verify the clock speeds if coolbits is messed up.

The BFGTech 7800 GTX OC cards should be 460/1300 in 3D.
