7800GTX + 77.77 Problems

hey guys, finally got my rig goin and have installed Far Cry including patched up to 1.31 and Battlefield 2.

I have an XFX 7800GTX with the WHQL 77.77 drivers installed as i hoped this would resolve the strange HDR bug that was seen in all the other driver releases however Far Cry wont boot, and Battlefield 2 does boot but as soon as i am about to go into a game it just crashes back to windows with no error messages. Was a clean install, no problems with anything at all. I have tried using the global driver setting on just default with everything application controlled, then tried adjusting the Battlefield 2 profile in different areas but no luck.
Anyone else had any issues with these drivers as so far the only 2 DirectX 9.0c games i have put on dont work, also DirectX 9.0c was installed with no problems.
If anyone could shed some light on this issue it would be much appreciated, system specs below:

First off, are you doing any sort of overclocking? If so, you need to either increase some voltages or turn everything back to stock and test from there.

If your not overclocking, which I'm assuming you aren't, could you give the model number of your XFX 7800GTX? It seems that the overclocked XFX's may be unstable which could be causing the sudden crashes. There is a tool called "Coolbits" that will allow you to adjust your GFX Core and Memory speeds via the nVidia control panel. It also monitors temperatures. You should take note of what your card idles at; anything above 75C is way too high, meaning you should adjust your Core and Memory speeds accordingly. A 50C idle is normal.

On another note, looking at your RAM, the OCZ VX series needs high Vdimm voltages. Because you have a DFI Lanparty SLI-DR you have the ability to raise the Vdimm to an attequate voltage for the OCZ VX. Set it to around 3.0v or 3.5v max.

Lastly would be to re-download the 77.77 drivers and re-install them. Make sure you run a program like DriverCleaner to make sure its a clean install. After running DriverCleaner just re-install the drivers and test it out. If it doesn't work try an older driver and repeat the process.
 
hey dude, thanks 4 the reply, the card is stock as a rock, not o/c'ed in any way.
the 7800gtx was the version that didnt come overclocked from the factory.
checked temps they are all fine.
already played around with the RAM, its set @ 3v Vdimm and 2-2-2-5 and has done about 5 hours worth of passes on memtest 86+ with no errors. so no probs in the ram department.
tried re-downloading the drivers and re-installing them and using driver cleaner to do it but still no luck, there is nothing wrong with the hardware as the 77.72 drivers worked fine but the problem i had was the bug in far cry that i couldn run HDR with :(
