I've had my 7800gt for over a year now, but all of a sudden its doing something really weird. My core clock on the card is 445 which is what its supposed to be. But my memory clock says 2.14 Ghz, and I know its not running at that because all of my games run perfectly fine. But whenever I try and lower the clocks to 1.07 Ghz, which is what it was when I bought it, it never passes the test and defaults back to 2.14. I've tried both coolbits and rivia-tuner. I'm using 93.81 for drivers but it did same thing when I had the 93.71 drivers. Any help would be appreciated, because this is really weird.

7800gt Problems

I'm having an issue with misleading clock rates also, with SLI 7800GT's flashed back at 445/1070 windows see it with 455/1090, dunno whats up, does it using 93.71's, 97.28's, whatever was the last official G80 series driver with inf mod (94.91?)
It reads the same with different versions of ntune, and even rivatuner 2.01. I had it flashed at 480/1200 but in windows was like 500/1224 which would crash my games, i'm think its more than a bug in the drivers.

I'm just using the control panel in classic view with Coolbits 2.0, or Rivatuner and they both say the same thing. Even if I set the clocks lower than what the card is rated at, it still fails to pass the test. Really frustrating since I would like to know what my card is running at.
There are known issues with the drivers doubling the DDR rates of the memory in the view screen. Trust me when I say thats not the actual speeds they're running at.
What's happening is the drivers are doubling the DDR so in fact it's reporting double what you're memory should be running at.
It's just a bug, and it was mostly reported with the 93.71 drivers. The 93.81 drivers were issued to fix this issue. Since you recently switched there may be some of the old 93.71 drivers still on your system and they're conflicting with the newer 93.81.
Here's what I would do if I was you.
1) DL a fresh version of the drivers and save them somewhere on your HDD.
2) Uninstall the videcard from the device manager.
3) Use a driver cleaning program to wipe out and trace of old vid drivers on you comp
4) Reboot and reinstall the drivers and vidcard.
This SHOULD fix the problem, as nothing is 100% certain I wish you luck!

I did this as I switched over to the 93.81 drivers, but I guess I can try it again.
Well I downloaded nTune and it says my memory clock is at 1070Mhz which is what its supposed to be. This might of started when I first got the 93.71 drivers but that was awhile ago so I don't really remember. I just left it alone because everything was working fine, until I decieded to switch to new drivers to see if this problem would go away. Thats really all thats happened, but since nTune says the right clock frequency's i don't think I have to worry that much, but thanks for the help guys.
Still I wish that it would display it correctly in the control panel, oh well.
