What CPU speed would bottleneck a 7800GT running at 1280x1024? What about 2 7800GT's in SLI? Or is that such a low resolution that the CPU wouldn't be a bottleneck?

I'm considering getting my fiance an FW900 off of ebay since she likes to play with graphics and stuff... at 1920x1200 what CPU speed would bottleneck the video?

well, it would depend on the aplication, but I can tell you there is almost no difference in my 3dmark05 score from cpu speeds of 1.8 to 2.77 ghz. I have a 6800GT and a 3700+ sandy on an Asus A8N-sli deluxe mobo with one 74 gig raptor and a gig (2 x 512) of Corsair Twinx 3200XLpro. The biggest difference comes from oc'ing the vid card from 350/1000 stock to 415/1140. rendering or video editing is a different kettle of fish however, and outside my area of expertise.

You don't have to worry about CPU bottlenecking at that resolution ecspecially if you have aa and af on. Playing at 19/10 your gpu will be the bottleneck not your cpu

Anything under an A64 or the equivelant on the Intel side. My P4 2.8C @ 3.6ghz bottlenecked my 6800GT, if that means anything to you.
