Well today I got myself another 7800 GT for a real good price so I bought it. I am able get both of these cards steped up on that evga program. Should I step them up to say 7900 GT's (I heard they had problems). I'm asking this becasue I'm planning on using that software volt mod and unlocking the pipes on the 7800's. Will I see a difference? Since they will almost be the same spec wise.

Edit: Ok Since my overclocking adventures look bleak what about the same question for straight up untampered 7800 GT's.
 
evga stepup program is 90 days....i wanted it, but nothing came out for 6 months lol.

so since its been over 6 months since they stopped making 7800GT's....i think you're out of luck. if you're planning on voltmodding the two cards and overclocking them like a bat out of hell, nah not much difference. the 7900GT's will use less power, run cooler and clock a bit higher but hell a 7800GT SLI setup is nothing to sneeze at!

You can't unlock the pipes, the extra quad is laser sealed. Good luck on the voltmod though.

Edit: Like the last guy said, you're prob not gonna have much luck stepping up either.
 
Can't unlock the pipes and step up probably won't work. I had 7800GT SLI for a while and my watercooloed x1900xt stomps all over it at 1600*1200 and higher quality settings.
