is a coolermaster 350 good enough with 15 a on 12 to power a 7800 gt

its been holding a x800xl fine , voltage is at 12.25 with dmm under load

if not, is dual psu the way to go

400w min is what evga recommends, 500w min in SLI

I agree, 400w should be the minmum but I would opt for a quailty 450W or 500W unit for upgradability. If you install filters on all the intkae fans, your PSU will last much longer and you won't have dust "bunnies" on the inside of your case.

grab the seasonic s12 500...great psu. or go for overkill and get the 600 watt. both are near silent and are extremely highly rated

im on a budget

What kind of ballpark figure are we working with?

In the 50-60 range we have a few things that will work. The Xclio 450w is an example.

I have a 7800gt in my rig, and recently had to substitute a spare CM 350w generic (that came with a Centurion) in for my Enermax which took a crap.(Damn you Enermax it's only 3 weeks old...after I gushed praise for you...)anyway, it runs the system just fine, but as soon as my Jedi shot his first Force lightning bolt, KOTOR2 shut down due to an error(I had all settings maxed) I turned down the resolution and some of the eye candy off, and it works. If you want to push that 7800, my guess is you need a real good 350w psu, but should get a 400w at least. Hope this helps...

X-Finity here I come....

I'm afriad there's a bit of a difference in power consumption between a x800xl and a 7800GT.

I would try it. But if you have issues, get something with at least 28A on a single 12V rail of 32A on a combined pair of 12V rails will do you right.
