How in the hell do I spread this stuff to get a thin layer? It's got the freaking consistency of playdoh. Credit cards are a big no go thus far.
 
can't just put the heatsink on and let it do the spreading?
 
People generally suggest to heat it up in a pot of boiling water before you apply it. It softens the paste and makes it easier to apply.
 
I just use the blob method. I've tested both, and I noticed NO difference. If you're worried about no getting enough coverage with just a blob in the center, put four additional tiny, half-bb sized drops near the 4 corners. It should get near full IHS coverage.
