7770 - 7850 price gap

The 7850 (210 euro) is twice as expensive as the 7770 (103 euro), the gap is quite large. Is AMD planning to close this gap with new cards or price adjustments? It's the most important price segment and AMD doesn't have much to offer there.

AMD has HD 6870 at the USD 150 -170 price point and HD 6950 at the USD 200 - 220 price point.

HD 6850, HD 6870, HD 6950 are still easily available at all the major computer retailers like newegg, amazon, tigerdirect, circuitcity. These cards should be available atleast till Q4 2012.
 
They're only available while retailers have stock. They're pretty much discontinued.

As for the price gap, the only thing that would move them to bother doing anything about it is the market and competition. I also think it's a pretty important bracket, but there's still no Nvidia offering to motivate the prices to any competitive point (other than the aforementioned last-gen cards, both AMD and Nvidia)
 
nV still has 560 and 560 Ti in that gap. Or are those discontinued already as well?
 
And even though 7870 didn't outperform 580, they still charged the same price as 580 for months before the cascade from the 79xx price cuts dropped them by force. AMD may just not consider 7850 in the same bracket as 560 ti even if performance is similar, or justifies it as a premium on newer tech, and is holding firm on the price as a result.
