Please tell me this is a no brainer! Is it possible to have too much thermal paste on the Cpu? And it actually kepes the heat on the cpu, instead of transfering the heat to the heat sink.. My heatsink (thermalright SP-94) dosn't get the silghtest warmth to it. In fact the fins are cold.

No overclocking has been done. Just Prime 95, thats how I know its getting so HOT.

Here is my signature for reference....
Abit IC7-MAX3, Thermalright SP-94, Western Digital 2-WD740GD, Coolermaster PAC-T01-E1SLVR, Sony MPF920, MSI MS-8408A2, ATI X800 XT Platinum, Crucial Balstix 2-512MB DDR PC3200, P4 3.2 800Mhz FSB, Turbo-Cool 510 Deluxe

Well, I imagine if you just glooped (wha?) it on there, then yeah that would probably be no good. Ideally you want a paperthin layer of the stuff. Just enough to fill in the minor imperfections in the surface of the HS.

Holy moly look at those temps... Try reseating the HS. If it doesnt work, turn that shit off before it gets damaged. Continue to fix it until its fixed..otherwise, leave it off. ;)

heh, I was a little more vulgar than you three...when I saw the thread title I said outloud to myself "That's fuckin' high!"

OMG you guys. I do this for 50 hours a week and got burnned. GOD DAMN clear sticker on the heat sink. LOL dude. i get the id10t trophy for the weekend. Must of got cought up in the moment and forgot! I need a swift kick in the ballz for that one.

 Whatch the bios temps on those ic7max3's, they read high by like 10c unless you have the latest bios which helps some but still isn't right on.
