7600gts need SLI cert. PSU

nothing NEEDS an SLI certified PSU. The certification just means that it has been validaded by nvidia to provide the power that's required (I think there's a minimum amount of current each rail must handle in order to be SLI certified). However, I ran 2 x 6800 ultras (which are known for their exceptionally high power draw) on my non-certified Neopower 480.

I'd certainly recommend a certified PSU just because it's a nice guarantee that it'll work. But it's not required. As long as you get a good brand of PSU with strong 12V rails there shouldn't be any problem.

Thanks for the propt response. I think my TurboCool510 is plenty then. This is a testament to a good PSU. 3 sets of mem, 2 different procs, 3 different vid cards 4 mobos and only 1 PSU in 3 years.

34A on 12V is very good for an older PSU.

The 7950 just needs one of the pcie plugs and i had two onmy old 600watt tagan. Damn.

You keep trolling how the Tagan 900W is "overkill" simply because it has more PCI-e connectors than you need. Are you really that naive? Fact is, I SERIOUSLY DOUBT a Tagan 600W would hold up to quad-GPU. I seriously doubt it would hold up to 7800GTX SLI or X1900 Crossfire for that matter. Why are you so intent on believing that because you 900W Tagan has more PCI-e connectors than you need that it's overkill?

God honest truth , i bought this for the quad sli and if you look at this you will see this needs two cables but the 7950 just needs one.

Sorry man if i offended you in any way but i clearly did not mean to. http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=370089

Well i thought this would be the one us consumers will get so i bought the one that gives you four or five leads thinking i will need it but i didnt.

Cos things changed , dude i am sorry if you thought i am a troll but i too am learning from all this .

The 7600GTs don't have external power requirements so funnily enough no they don't need it

It's cool to be "learning" but it doesn't matter how many leads a PSU has. It can have one, or it can have twenty. It doesn't change the output capability of the PSU.

It's good that you admit that you're "learning," but if you're still in the learning process, try not to make yourslf look foolish by calling a PSU "a waste of money" simply because it has "too many connectors."

Sorry dude , what i meant to say was that it was very bad timing for me and i bought something which i could have done without. I thought i would need the power but didnt when the 7950 came out. But your right i can use it in the Future when i want to go quad.

If i saved that money i could have changed to Conroe , but now i will have to wait, but thats humans for you they just want more.

I cant wait when they get to £200. Also the best thing about the PSU was that it came in a Leather case , which was soo COOL.

Also the switch wouldnt go off from the back from day one , so i went to give it back without the leather case and i got a new PSU with another leather case.

2 leather cases not bad. :D
