Hello,

I bougt an 3d Fuzion 7600gt pci-e card about 1,5 month ago the first 2 weeks it worked perfect but my ram wasn't so I rma'd the ram yesterday I got new good working ram, ran some tests to check stability I also ran 3dmark '06 everything went fine until the Deep Freeze test after a while in the test the card just locks up I have to reboot the pc to get it to respond again,

before I rma'd my ram the card would ran 3dmark '06 fine no lock or what so ever only thing that's changed since is newer nvidia drivers (91.47 atm before rma I was running 91.31)

The 3dmark test is the only test where it crashes al my games run fine (bf2, q4).

Any ideas?

thanks in advance

[EDIT]
After some more testing, i changed out the drivers first removed the drivers and al traces to it, then reinstalled 91.47 again, run 3dmark again, no lockup's this time only artifacting, first run minor artifects in Deep Freeze test, (snow and sky with some white artifacts), second run sky went black snow went grey for the last 10 seconds or so, but it didn't lock up, monitored the temps in both runs, never got above 59 degrees celcius, so normal imo
[/EDIT]

bumping my own tread,

i've isolated the problem,

when I run 3dmark'06 i've got the glitches / artefacts on the deep freeze test:

So after that I didn't really care cause all my games ran fine, I was playing bf2 just an hour ago or so and encounterd this:

So I begun testing, first I lowerd my vram speeds with 100 mhz (from 700 to 600), ran 3d mark deep freeze, less glitches then the first time but still the where there,

Second time I lowered speed with vram speeds with 200mhz, ran deep freeze test no glitches,

Is the vram overheating or is it faulty/broken etc.

One way to test if it's just overheating is to play BF2 right away after booting. If you don't get the glitches until after it's been running for a while, it might be worth it to get some heatsinks for your RAM (or, if the RAM is under the main heatsink, get some good thermal pads to make sure the chips are making contact with it.) If it glitches even when the card is still relatively cool, you need to try and get it replaced under warranty.

Is this all at stock clock speeds or below? Did you overclock the RAM?

I left everything at stock speed, its a reference 7600 cooler, so the ram isn't coverd, I'll first try with a fan directly blowing at it, that should help shouldn't it?

And about the glitches in games didn't have it until 2day, the system was up voor about 3 hours, been playing some NFS-MW then some surfing and after that bf2, it appeared after about 30 minutes of bf2

about the running thing, if I run deep freeze test 2 times straight after eachother, the glitches are the second time much worse, like total black sky and grey snow.

Sounds like heat more than anything, then, and aiming a good fan at it ought to be a good test. If that helps, then RAM-sinks should too.

I think the fan didn't help, mounted it directly under the videocard (about 3cm under it), case side panel was off, fan was set @3000rpm (12cm TT fan) booted 3dmark ran my 'favorite' test,,, still glitches

So I don't think heat is the problem here?

Are there any other solutions? Or should I just RMA it

I think it's kind of fixed now, after trying more things including other drivers I now run Forceware 96.89 beta drivers, they don't produce the glitches no matter how many times I loop deep freeze.

Also I didn't notice it in any game anymore lately, and the fan is gone again (2 much noise :D )

thx for your help
