I'm idling at 36c and loading at around 46c. Is that normal? Seems rather cool coming from a 6800GT and 7800GS.

Hey, if it's running that cool, go with it. My 6600GT averages around 40-50 idle and 60-70 load. I assume yours is not overclocked?

BFG 7600GS AGP

38-39 idle, mid 40's cranked.

My 6600GT idled at 50-52 and hit high 70's wailin!

Yep, these cores run cooler. When produced, nVIDIA was able to reduce the transistor count and thus the power/heat requirements.

They really did a fantastic job with the power-heat:performance ratio.

good to know

you find any decent drivers for it? mine only seems to be able to load the 91.31's. i'm not able to get RivaTuner to track my temps either.

this thing is really begining to piss me off.

no, not overclocked. i attempted a small OC with ati tool which i was able to do just fine with my 7800GS but (i dont remember the speed) it failed real quick. really unstable on my system so far. it'll probably go back to fry's friday in favor of another 7800GS.

Haven't bothered looking as the 91.31's work fine for me with eg:

CoD2, Oblivion, Far Cry, Flatout2, Fear, RBR, Morrowind, MOHAA etc.
I.m very happy with the BFG 7600GS however I recommended the 7600GT to a relative for the $25 more. [Leadtech 7600GT]

<---AGP

i was hoping the 512mb of ram might overcome any shortcomings i might have but nope. i'm not happy and it will be going back on friday in favor another 7800GS.

Leadtek just released 7600GT for AGP. It's way cheaper than a 7800GS and is almost dead-on in terms of performance. You might want to check it out.

edit: It just went out of stock, but it looks like they'll be getting some more in on the 5th: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122009
thanks for the info but for the same price (minus my return) i can have the 7800GS on friday. if not for my laziness and lack of motovation to drive 60 miles today.
