75HZ with HDMI?

Only HDMI 2.1 officially supports higher than 60Hz input, some TVs may have a 1080p120hz hack, but those are a rarity.

i overclocked a display ~6 yrs ago to 75hz with hdmi if that helps.

I thought hdmi can go over 60hz if the screen is built for it?

With custom timings it's possible. It will depend on display. Currently I'm running my display at 75Hz through HDMI.
